Cooking Classes in Auckland: It’s Business Time

Dear Friends,

Guess what?

I quit my job.

Up until just recently, I sat at a desk and sold stuff for other people. My days were usually quite stressful. And then I would come home and cook dinner, sometimes after a 10 hour day. And I would LOVE it, look forward to this time, it was almost like meditation for me. Yup. I get it. Most people aren’t me. But here’s the thing: I wasn’t me. Well, at least not cooking me, not ten years ago. Ten years ago, I thought you used the green stalk-y bit of leeks and threw out the white bit. Ten years ago, I relied heavily on packaged sauces/mixes and would never have tried to make tomato sauce from scratch. Ten years ago, I DEFINITELY would not have cooked my own birthday meal for twelve of my closest friends because I actually wanted to.

I didn’t even know where to start. It was too hard.

Then, over time I learned that actually, cooking doesn’t have to be hard. It can be fun, but only if you set yourself some realistic expectations. So many cooking books are complicated, unclear and kinda boring. Or you think you’re going to be Nigella straight away and LOLZ, if it were that easy. Most recipes only give you the end product, so you have to kind of fake it along the way, cross your fingers hard and hope that the end result somewhat resembles the beautiful photoshopped image thing staring back at you. And if it doesn’t? Well you certainly don’t feel like Nigella. Really, you don’t feel particularly inspired to try it again, do you? Cooking can be really intimidating.

So how about this?

I quit my job, because I love food. I love cooking. And I want to hang out with you in your kitchen.

I’m bringing The Enthusiastic Cook into your homes. Quite literally.

I’m offering personalised cooking classes in Auckland, one on one, in your own home. Your space, your tools. You don’t need to buy a bunch of fancy stuff and we can work with what you have. Spend an entertaining couple of hours with me, having FUN cooking. Classes will range from absolute beginners to those of you wanting to switch up the ol’ frozen pizza Wednesday. Basics 101 and beyond – tailoring each lesson to the individual, in a completely relaxed setting. We will chat ahead of time to work out your skill level, what you’d like to accomplish and what meals you like to eat. (So I teach you how to cook food you actually want to eat again). I will plan three dishes for our session, will bring all the ingredients and leave you with your own recipes to fall back on so you can become your own Enthusiastic Cook.

Food is so important. I bet you will find yourself eating better. Spending less money. And then you will throw a kick ass dinner party to celebrate. You’ll have fun. Seriously. Because it means you can make a great dinner and have leftovers for lunch the next day. And you’ve done that. That’s YOU, clever thing.

Have a look around my new website. It’s had a face lift and I hope you like it. It’s a work in progress, and there will be new bits added on as I go. For now, click through to classes and spread the word! A gift voucher would be an excellent Christmas present, just sayin’. Thanks for joining me on Chapter Two of the Food Journey.

Let’s cook gang. We’ve got this.
